Artist Statement
As cities expand and our country-sides are transformed, we often find ourselves passing by these friendly Giants. They stand against the wind and weather. It is often these trees that are part of our daily urban landscape.
I have reduced the structures, apartments, factories and forces of nature to random blocks of colour or gesture. I allow the steadfastness of the tree or trees to dominate the painting. We see them clearly now their shapes, their individual character. They may even seem as familiar as the people you pass every day. Firmly rooted, they are landmarks that remain close to home.
